“Agent 402010 to office I:32.” A feminine computer voice announced over the P.A. system. “Agent 402010 to office I:32.”
Cedric turned his attention from his screen to the glass cubicles outside his office. He’d only been called up there once before.
“Agent 30699 to office I:32.” The computer said. “Agent 30699 to office I:32”
That was a more familiar sound. Cedric stood and made his way to the lift. Jim met him just as the doors opened.
“First time to the principal’s office?” Jim asked.
Cedric stared at him like he was speaking a foreign language. Then he realized what he was saying. “Oh, you mean the directorate’s office.” He chuckled. “No, I’ve been there once before.”
This time Jim shook his head. Finally, he got one over Cedric’s head.
When they reached the top floor and made their way to office I:32, Jim held the door open for Cedric. “After you, newbie.”
